Paul J. Mershon earned a bachelor’s degree in business from the University of Minnesota. He began his career in financial planning in 1978 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. In 1981, Paul founded Resource Financial Group in Madison, Wisconsin. Under Paul’s leadership, Resource Financial Group developed into a diversified financial services firm comprised of 11 consultants involved in the design and implementation of financial plans for physicians, business owners and other highly compensated individuals. In 1990, Paul sold his firm to North Star Resource Group, a Minnesota-based firm with a history in the financial services industry dating back to 1908. In 1992, he moved his practice to North Scottsdale and founded Silverhawk. Today Silverhawk advises business owners and high income individuals on available methods to decrease taxes and increase working capital. Paul also works with clients to develop the most appropriate asset allocation strategy available based on their goals, risk propensity, and income level, always careful to assess the current global economic environment as well as potential inefficiencies and opportunities in the investment markets.

Joe Laux earned his bachelor’s degree in business from Arizona State University. He continued on to pursue a second degree in culinary arts from Arizona Culinary Institute. After three years in professional kitchens, he decided to take his financial advisors’ suggestion and get back to a role in financial services. He made this career change in 2005 to work with Northwestern Mutual, a Milwaukee based firm that has been in the financial industry for over 150 years. Joe quickly moved up to a management role while building his own practice with individuals and business owners. During the summer of 2010, Joe transitioned to a position with Silverhawk Financial as a financial advisor so that he could service a broader spectrum of his clients’ financial and planning needs in a significantly more comprehensive manner. Today Joe works with physicians and business owners providing education and recommendations that have a dramatic impact on their financial future.  Joe teaches at Banner Health in Phoenix, Honor Health in Scottsdale, and Dignity Health in Phoenix to the residency and fellowship programs to help newer physicians with their financial planning needs as they go through these stages in their career.  He has also taught groups of business owners through the valley on topics such as business continuation, exit strategy planning, key man protection, buy sell situations, and tax planning strategies.

Joe spends his free time with his wife and son along with their two dogs in Phoenix, Arizona.  He participates in multiple charitable organizations including Scottsdale Active 20/30 Club and currently serves on the board of Sigma Alpha Epsilon- Phoenix Alumni Association.

Dianna Moses found her passion for the financial markets at an early with her first job on a Wall Street trading floor at just 19 years old.  Her technical and financial knowledge in the swaps markets earned her contracts with such companies as Goldman Sachs, UBS, RBC and Credit Lyonnais.  In 2004 Dianna shifted her focus to the medical world and for the next seven years she used her financial and logistics background to work with physician start up practices.  Ready for a warmer climate, Dianna moved across country to Scottsdale, AZ and began working as a financial consultant with AXA Advisors focusing primarily on retirement income distribution strategies.  In 2015 Dianna joined Silverhawk Financial to provide a more comprehensive approach to financial planning for specialty physicians, professional athletes, high net worth individuals, small business owners and people considering their divorce options or post-decree to plan for their new future.  She currently is involved with non-profit organizations benefiting our military and in her free time she enjoys spending time training her two Dobermans, bodybuilding and competitive shooting.

After 10 years of successful entrepreneurial, startup and corporate experience, Brett earned his MBA from the University of Calgary in 2009.  Since then, Brett has continued to build long term relationships with business owners and corporate executives as he pursues his passion for securing his clients long term financial future.  Brett started his career in financial services in 2014, joining Silverhawk early in 2015.  At Silverhawk Brett sees a natural progression of continued success, combining planning from both personal and business perspectives into a comprehensive solution that will best benefit a client’s long term financial needs.  Silverhawk’s substantial experience and resources in tax and asset protection provide the planning tools that business owners need to grow net worth.  Brett works with a number of technology, medical and engineering firms listening to their individual needs and then designing customized plans and recommendations which dramatically enhance the firms, and the respective owners of those firms,  financial future.  Brett is married to Nadine and lives in North Scottsdale with their 4 children.  They can be frequently found on the McDowell Mountain trails or cheering at their children’s swim meets.

Charles success is contributed to him serving his clients with world-class strategy and service as well as going the extra mile.

Charles currently serves on Leadership Council for YWCA Greenwich and is Co-Chairman of the 2016 Persimmons Ball Men’s Committee. Charles is also a member of Toastmasters and The 1939 Club.

Joe Macdonald grew up in rural Maine, where he learned the value of integrity, hard work, and discipline, through his family’s business of new car dealerships started by his grandfather, Roger Macdonald, in the 1940s. Joe attended Clarkson University to pursue his passions in mathematics, science, and business, where he received a Bachelor of Science in Engineering and Masters of Business Administration. In 2003, Joe co-founded a real estate investment company in Arizona to capitalize on the opportunities he identified in residential, multi-family, and condo-conversions. In 2006, Joe and his business partner determined that the real estate market in Arizona was not sustainable and liquidated their investments. In late 2006, he became National Sales Manager for Active Finance Group, LLC, a private investment bank based in Scottsdale, Arizona focused on bridge-financing for real estate investors. For two years, he led the company’s sales growth to over $100M, while significantly reducing the portfolio’s risk by diversifying geographically and improving the quality of the underlying assets. The financial crisis of 2008 caused the company’s senior investor to stop originating new loans, so Joe transitioned into the role of Asset Manager, where he managed the portfolio of loan and real estate assets to maximize the return of principle to the investors. Arizona was especially hard-hit during the financial crisis, and Joe decided to put his unique experience to use, helping clients plan for their futures and avoid unforeseen risks. He joined AXA Advisors in 2013 as a financial advisor, specializing in retirement and insurance planning. Joe quickly found a niche with physicians, business owners, and high net-worth families, and joined Silverhawk Financial in 2015 in order to utilize its extensive tax and financial planning experience to provide more impactful services to his clients.

In his free time, Joe enjoys family time at home and travelling with his wife Kristy and their son Joey. He is an avid golfer and enjoys hiking and travelling. Joe is an Eagle Scout, has a Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do, and is active with the Delta Sigma Phi Phoenix Alumni Association and Greater Phoenix Mensa.

Since graduating college from The University of Tennessee at Martin in 1991, Brent Turner has been helping his clients make smart decisions with their money.  Brent started his practice as a 22 year old young ambitious man armed only with his core values of helping others and his will to succeed.  His basic training in the insurance business of protecting families and preparing for the future served him well in years to come.

He built his practice preparing families for the transfer of wealth to the next generation using the most advanced tax and estate strategies available.  He always found that families were best served when all of their advisors were at the same table at the same time working on their clients’ best interest.  This concept of collaborative planning made certain that the clients thoughts and dreams for their family were achieved.

Today, Brent and his family reside in Mt. Juliet, TN where he focuses his attention to serving a limited number of clients.  He still believes that the best working scenario is when the financial advisor, the accountant and the estate planning attorney are collaborating for best practices and results.  As an Investment advisor Representative of Silverhawk Asset Management, Brent assists his clients with fee based asset management and detailed financial plans.

Personally, Brent and his wife Lisa and son, Crawford are an avid outdoors family.  They are very active in their community, Boy Scouts of America, and their church.  On any given weekend, Brent and Crawford can be found traveling the circuit with their trained field trial retrievers.

    This part of the portfolio experience provided by other financial service professionals, this part of the portfolio provides access to the world’s equity and bond markets, with primary focus on US markets.  Exposure is gained via a broadly diversified portfolio constructed primarily with exchange-traded funds (ETFs) that enable extremely cost-effective access to almost infinite market sectors.

  • OPPORTUNISTIC

    Your investments need to be protected from large unexpected declines in the equity and bond markets. This is best accomplished by gaining direct exposure to investments in non-correlated asset categories.

  • RISK PROTECTED

    This part of your investment portfolio enables participation in positive returns in the equity and investment markets, yet protects you from losses that might be incurred by those same markets.
